A significant percentage of people will always think the new innovation will fail

I loved watching “Singin’ in the Rain” for the first time this weekend.

Key takeaway: Never underestimate the power of the new innovation. In the film, many dismissed the addition of synchronized audio to pictures. Seems insane now but it seems history is filled with naysayers around innovation. Business people can’t afford to be naysayers around innovation and should always be scared of it and plan for it and largely err on the side of always thinking that this “new thing” will ruin them unless they get ahead of it and build on top of it in new ways — just like Monumental Pictures has to do in “Singin’ in the Rain.”

The importance of timeless truths is greatly reinforced when I go back many decades and see that the same patterns repeat. It’s always the same pattern, just in a different context.
